This year marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, one of the most versatile and inspirational engineers of modern British history. He helped shape the landscape of the South West and built many of its famous landmarks. He was chief engineer of the original Great Western Railway and involved in designing most of the bridges and stations en route between London Paddington and Bristol.
